Year 6 Boys Cambs Film Festival Winners!
For the second year running there was the opportunity to take part in the school Cambridge Film Festival competition. Thanks to family and friends voting all three groups, Class 1, Year 6 Girls and Year 6 Boys were nominated to attend the Festival held at the Corn Exchange. Teachers and children had a fantastic evening, but when Year 6 boys were announced winners of the Year 6 competition, it got even better. The boys very kindly said they wanted the girls to come up on stage with them to receive the prize as everyone had worked so hard. Well done everyone and a big thank you to Mrs Cattermole and Michelle for devoting so much time to the project. Click on link below for website of the Cambridge Film Festival

Yet more fantastic sports results. At a competition in St Neots involving 175 schools our two teams excelled themselves. The A team came fourth overall and the B team came 36th. They also won the trophy for top small school! Quite an achievement! Well done to everyone and a big thank you to Francis Dow for giving her time each week to coaching our teams. Thank you also to PTA and to a local individual for their generous donations towards the funding of the team T-shirts! |

for Year 6 Film Club's first ever animation film! |
Since February Mrs Cattermole has been running an afterschool film club for children in Year 6 who were interested in creating a film animation. The first task was to learn basic animation skills, how to make objects 'move', so they started by making some of Mrs Downes' farm animals more.
| Next was to take part in the Cambridgeshire young person film festival! (Look at their website http://www.filmstarz.org.uk). |
The Year 6 groups entering were given the title 'Sensational, amazing, marvellous, astounding... But what is it?'. They had to come up with their own ideas for the plot/characters etc. and had to create their own scenery and find appropriate music to place with the film. It was to be no longer than a minute.
| Our Year 6s took 60 photos which recorded their models' movements. Once all the photos were taken, windows movie maker was used to make the animation and add titles and credit pages. |
| The finished film was entered into Cambridgeshire's young persons film festival in the Year 6 Category. There with 22 entries and only 14 nominations, and yes, our team was one of the 14 selected! The awards ceremony was held at Cambridge Corn Exchange on Thursday 8th July. Jenna, Aleisha, Jazz and Saffron were joined by Mrs Cattermole, Miss Pledger, Mrs Downes, Mrs Piotrowski and Mr Archer for a fantastic evening. They watched a performance by a young acting group, who performed an Alice in Wonderland song and the characters where then part of the ceremony helping winners to the stage. Each category (see film website above) had a 3rd, 2nd and 1st trophy. Winners of each category had the whole of their film shown. |
| After the interval Mrs Piotrowski treated the girls to an ice cream as it was a very warm evening and then it was time for the Year 6 category to be viewed. A huge cheer when Burrough Green was called out for the nominations and everyone got to see part of the girls' film on the BIG screen. Fingers were crossed but we weren't lucky enough to win an award but what a great achievement to get down to the final 14. They left just before the end of the festival, as we had to get the last bus back to the park and ride! |
| A great evening had by all. The school will be entering next year and all the teachers have now got some super ideas from the festival. Thank you to Mrs Cattermole for giving Year 6s the opportunity of learning film making skills. |
