Congratulations are in order to the Wednesday XI, managed and captained by Andrew Polley, who won the Bottisham and District Cricket League for the first time in 27 years. The team also reached the final of the Ingham Cup.
The Burrough Green Cricket Club 1st XI were relegated to the Cambridgeshire Cricket association Division 1(B) but with our budding younger cricketers who were successfully introduced into Senior cricket last year, the team is expected to return to the Senior League,by gaining immediate promotion.
The new season will commence on 3rd May 2008 with the 1st XI versus Ashwell away and the 2nd XI versus Isleham at Burrough Green. In the Cambs CA 1(B) Junior League the 1st XI will meet teams who haven't opposed before, namely Ashwell, Bar Hill and others we haven't met for a number of years, Longstow, Great Shelford, Barley, Thurlow and Cokenach. The 2nd XI is in a similar position with new opposition, namely, Witcham II, Wimblington II, Fordham III and Burwell IV. Fixture cards will be available as soon as possible nearer the start of the season.
The Club has great pleasure in announcing that 3 ex-players noted for their outstanding achievements on the cricket field for the 1st XI over the years and their continued support of the club since, have agreed to become Life Members; they are Brian Lister, Albert Cook and Ron Stamford. Congratulations.
During the season cricket lovers and supporters of the club are invited to have a cup of tea and a bun on Saturday afternoons. All are welcome.
