Charity Cricket Match
Julian Wilson's XI vs Burrough Green XI
Sunday, 4th September 2005
Thank you to everyone who supported the event.
£1250 was raised for the Motor Neurone Disease Association
The Newmarket Journal reported the event:
"The Burrough Green XI batted first and scored 205-8 but were beaten by Julian Wilson's XI who scored 209-4 and won by six wickets with a notable 122 not out by Ouija Board's trainer Ed Dunlop. Over the years, the annual match has raised an estimated £20,000 for charity and before Sunday's finale Burrough Green were trailing by one game with 11 to 12. But the racing team pulled out the stops and won the 25 year series which means it can hold on to the Lester Piggott Trophy. "We had a terrific day of cricket. Of course, there was some sadness about this being the last time the match will be held, but we just feel it has run its course," said Julian Wilson. "I would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years.""
